Come stay just minutes away from Heceta Beach! Go fly kites down the road, stop and grab a bite from one of our delicious local restaurants then come unwind in the hammock as you look over Heceta Beach Junction Lake here at Heceta Beach Cottage. Spacious home with plenty of room for family. Make one-of-a-kind memories here after exploring the Oregon Coast. Heceta Beach:

A beautiful long sandy beach that's a popular location for families and leisurely beach strolls. Walk south toward the Harbor Vista Park and Jetty or North beyond the Driftwood shores restaurant for a more private stroll while looking for whales and other sea life or combing the sand for sea shells enjoying the incredible scenery of the majestic Oregon Coast.

The Heceta Beach Lane County Park is the most “official” entrance to this beach. Entered along the north end of the Driftwood Shores Surfside Restaurant, a wide path leads to the sand, or enter to the South of Driftwood Shores and restaurant thru the parking area for the shortest access. For a more adventurous and private entrance follow 1st St. south to Heceta / pond St. turn right and follow straight ahead to the corner then look for a path through the bushes and dune.

Heceta Head Lighthouse

Situated high above the Pacific Ocean on the rugged Heceta Head outcropping is one of the most popular and inspirational sites on the Oregon Coast; and it is only about 10 scenic miles north of Florence. It is a must-see among must-sees here in Oregon’s Coastal Playground. One of the most beautiful, and most photographed lighthouses in the world.

Since March 30, 1894, from its perch 205 feet above the ocean, this 56-foot-tall working lighthouse has cast its beam more than 20 miles out to sea, making it the brightest light on the Oregon coast.

Throughout its intriguing and colorful past, the lighthouse watched over many attending families, safely guided passing personal, commercial, and military vessels, oversaw the construction of Highway 101, hosted a WWII military outpost and Lane Community College’s satellite campus, and blessed many a wedding ceremony.

The lighthouse underwent a major, and historically accurate, restoration between 2011 and 2013.

The leisurely walk to the lighthouse is a quarter-mile uphill from the inn, which itself is a quarter mile from the public parking area. There is an interpretive center and gift shop with books, souvenirs, and other themed items as you begin the walk from the inn to the lighthouse.

Heceta Head Lighthouse is 11 miles north at Heceta Head Lighthouse State Scenic Viewpoint, (formerly Devil’s Elbow State Park). Day use parking is $5 or is covered by a $35 Oregon Coast Passport permit available at state parks.

Heceta Beach house
3/5 stars
We arrived on the evening of 7/26 and checked out on 7/30/2024. The house was lovely and appeared in good shape, however, the microwave did not work and we contacted the host on the 27th who had the cleaning lady come to check it out . She couldn't fix it so the host said maintenance could come out on Monday. That did not happen. So we had no microwave for our entire stay. They should have just brought us a new microwave on the 27th. Also, neither of the bathroom fans worked effectively, really not at all. The hall bathroom was so bad that it left every surface of the bathroom totally wet after a shower. The shower head was a strong stream that could not be adjusted. Not sure what's going on with the paper towels stuffed into the corner of the wall in the kitchen. It didn't affect our stay, but looks like something that should be fixed. The description said it sleeps 5, with a twin bed in the living room. The bed was a chaise lounge, which is fine, but there was no bedding to fit it. So we used the throw blankets from the living room. The ping pong table was nice as we enjoyed several games with our grandkids. The hot tub was also very enjoyable. Hope this info helps.

Great place for the most part!
5/5 stars
It's a very nice house. It is a great location on the lake, situated well between town and the beach. Apart from a few small issues, we really enjoyed our stay. We would have taken the boat onto the lake, but couldn't find a place to launch it safely. We had was a shortage of towels. While there were several hand towels and washcloths in each bathroom, there was only one full-sized bath towel in each (two total). Since there were four of us, we were a little short. More full-sized towels would be great! Another issue was the kitchen trashcan. It is TINY. We had to empty it frequently. Also, the outside trashcan was out near the street and was full. I assume there were other guests there just before us, and the trash was due to be picked up on our last day, though it hadn't been by the time we left. It could be that it was just bad timing, but I think just having a bigger kitchen trashcan might help with the situation some. Lastly, while it wasn't really an 'issue,' we thought that the addition of a recliner or some kind of living chair would be great to have in the big empty space in the living room. We made due, but it was a little crowded on the couch while watching TV. Just a thought! The property owner sent us check-in and check-out instructions, and was quick to respond with answers to additional questions. Overall, we had a lovely time and would consider this property again in the future!
