This rental is nestled amongst idyllic Colorado mountains at approximately 10,000-ft above sea level. It can be accessed via a scenic 20-minutes drive from I-70, along Fall River Road. This is the perfect launchpad for your CO mountain adventures... you can literally walk to the trailhead for Saint Mary's Glacier. This is a 1.9-mile well-used trail featuring a beautiful lake. This condo is located in Idaho Springs, where gold was first discovered in CO in 1859. Downtown retains much of its old, wild west charm, honoring its rich mining heritage with carefully preserved museums and historic sites, including Argo Gold Mine and Mill. Miner Street, lined with fabulous local restaurants / breweries, locally-owned boutiques. Idaho Springs is a small town with big personality, including mine tours, rafting trips, zip lining, hiking, Indian Hot Springs, family parks and more…

Please note: This condo is one of 3 rental units on property. The Getaway B may be accessed via one flight of external stairs taking you to the second floor. Each rental unit has a private entrance. Ample parking.

Although this home is located on a county-maintained road, it is very steep. From June through August, a front-wheel drive car is enough; however from November to May it is REQUIRED to be traveling in a vehicle that provides either AWD or 4 wheel drive capabilities.

Disappointed
1/5 stars
We were hoping for a cozy Christmas getaway, but unfortunately we didn’t find that. The shower door and closet door were off hinges. Dead flys were all over, the couch had dog fur on it and don’t get my wrong, we love dogs, but you expect to start in a clean place. The water in the shower was warm and not hot, not what you desire after a day on the mountain. There was a Christmas tree upon arrival, which made me happy, but I plugged it in and only a 3rd of the lights even worked and the rest went out in the night. The fan in the bedroom had a 1/4 inch of dust on it, so we were desperate to make sure it didn’t turn on with the lights. The sad part is that is was minor stuff that someone could have easily taken care of to make things a lot more pleasant and to reach the minimum, which I’d never complain about. Our stay ended up only being one night out of four, because my husband had an emergency on the mountain and some big injuries. We were met with a “good luck” response when I reported we’d be checking out 3 nights early due to that. Just overall a terrible experience. Too bad because it’s a phenomenal location.

It all went fine up there. Pullout couch was the only complaint. Will use you again if we have a need for lodging in St Marys.

Sleepless in St Marys
5/5 stars
Upon arriving, we thought the place was clean and comfortable. How ever, at night, between the neighbors up above and below, we had very limited sleep. We couldn't shut the windows, as there is no a/c in the mountains. There was a travel trailer on the property and the owner had a wolf/dog chained up. It howled through the night and day. Felt sorry for the animal, as it seemed to want/need attention. Mattress could use updating, as well as better pillows.
