Welcome to the McGuire Dent Home in Galveston, TX – a place where history seamlessly intertwines with comfort. This spacious 6-bedroom, 4-bath home, boasting not just one, but four kitchens, holds within its walls the rich legacy of Educator and Activist Jessie McGuire Dent. It's an honor to share that this home has been officially recognized as historic by the City of Galveston. Allow yourself to be embraced by the enchanting charm of this beautifully decorated historic gem nestled in the heart of the Island

Just one block or a quick 4 min walk to the beach, this home is kid and family friendly! Sleeps 20!

The layout is perfect for 4 families / group of friends traveling together. Each unit has be renovated and has it's own kitchen, bathroom and living room. The shared spaces include the hallways, entry ways, stairs and balcony. Each unit is secure with an electronic lock.

This restored two story home includes 6 nicely decorated and themed bedrooms, 4 full baths. It can comfortably accommodate 20 people. Electronic lock code allows easy access!

Home's Layout

Downstairs features 2 Units - Pier I and Pier II.

Pier I is a one bedroom (king bed) unit with a living room with a full size sofa sleeper, a full kitchen and a private bathroom that has a tub and stand up shower.

Pier II is a two bedroom ( 2 queen beds) unit with a living room with a full size sofa sleeper, a full kitchen and a private bathroom that has a tub and stand up shower.

Upstairs features 2 Units - Pier III and Pier IV.

Pier III is a one bedroom ( full bed) unit with a living room with a full sofa sleeper, a full kitchen and a private bathroom that has a tub and stand up shower.

Pier IV is a two bedroom (1 queen bed and 1 bunk - full bottom and twin top) unit with a living room with a queen sofa sleeper, a full kitchen and a private bathroom that has a tub and stand up shower.

Family Room

With plenty of natural light, any of the 4 family rooms are a great place to gather. Each family room connects to the kitchen.

Stocked with board games and outfitted with WiFi, this home can be your home away from home.

Garage

Off Street market in the back alley on a concrete slap. One car per unit allowed in the parking spaces. Other cars will needs to be parked on the street.

Outdoor

Enjoy the outside yard with a front porch and balcony. Dine at 3 brand new picnic tables.

This is a DOG FRIENDLY HOME (up to 50 pounds): A non-refundable pet fee of $92 per pet will be added to your rental if you choose to bring your pet(s). Pet(s) must be crated any time guest is not present. Pet screening must be completed for each pet.

Do you have a minimum age requirement?

Galveston

Due to previous problems (and we’re sure this doesn’t relate to you…) we’ve needed to implement a minimum age requirement of 25+. Guests under the age of 25 are still entirely welcome – they will just need to be accompanied by parents or guardians.

The key pad at the back door did not work. The back door threshold is broken so the rain came in. There was no broom, mop or dustpan. Not enough towels to accommodate the number of people. Otherwise we love the house.

We recently stayed at the McGuire Dent House in Galveston. We had a group of 17 with kids as young as 2 and 4 years old. Plenty of room and bathrooms for our group. Within walking distance to the beach and restaurant's. Would recommend for large groups or family.

We had an excellent stay! The communication was awesome and checking in was a breeze. The home was walkable to the beach, to great restaurants, and super comfortable when we were inside. The kitchen had everything we needed and we felt super relaxed. A great stay!

Perfect for a group. It was super comfortable and close to everything. We walked to the beach everyday. It was only a 2 minute walk to the beach. It's right behind one of our favorite restaurants, BLVD Seafood.

This house was perfect for my family. It has 4 apartments each with their own bathroom and kitchen. So, we were able to hang out and share meals as family by day and at night my adult kids each took an apartment with their families and my husband & I took and apartment. It was perfect. It is across the street from the beach and right behind BLVD Seafood - one of our favorite restaurants. We walked to Pleasure Pier (it only took 6 minutes to get there from the house). Parking was in the back of the house but could only fit 4 smaller cars. Our host happily gave us a parking pass for the street. We will surely be back!

What I loved most about this home was the set up. It has 4 separate apartments. We took this vacation with 3 different families. Each family had their own apartment which included a living room, 1 or 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and 1 full kitchen. It was just perfect! The kids all camped together and played games. We were able to cook and eat together, hang out and then go back to our own apartments at the end of the evening to shower and sleep. The location is across the street from the beach. We even let the teens walk to the beach alone. Pleasure Pier is a 5 minute walk away. One of our favorite restaurants, Blvd Seafood is directly in the front of this house and The Spot is super close as well! We enjoyed everything!

We stayed at Paradise by the Pier this weekend and will be back very soon! The house is very cute and decorated beautifully. The beds were comfortable and it was kind of home away from home. There were extra blankets and pillows to accommodate our large group throughout the house, which was greatly appreciated. The kitchens are a fully stocked kitchen with stove,oven, and utensils. The Pleaser Pier can be seen from any of the front rooms in the house. The ocean is visible from the front porch and it was perfect to relax and watch the sun rise. The location is a 1 minute walk to the ocean. This location is perfect for the group of kids that we took with us. This is the perfect stay for large groups or family vacations! Can’t wait to come back!
