Rockmere Inn: Fireplace, 3 King Suites, Elegant Home, Walk to Quaint Shopping, Fast WiFi, Parking
About
Nestled in the heart of historic old town Marblehead, Rockmere Inn is a 1-minute walk to boutiques and restaurants, a 5-minute walk to Marblehead's famous harbor, and amidst a lovely stroll in the historic village. Wander along the streets of Marblehead and be transported back to colonial times.
Rockmere Inn harkens back to a time when travelers returned home with wares from long global jaunts. Each piece tells a story. Visitors are embraced by the wares of a global traveler juxtaposed with items that celebrate Marblehead’s seafaring and revolutionary history.
A visit to Rockmere Inn showcases the creativity of local builders, as the unique home traverses the rock ledge that connects Washington St to Mechanic St. As the home meanders up the ledge, each living space is presented as a separate level. Three of the separate levels provide a bedroom suite. The other levels provide the expansive living spaces.
If you want an elegantly appointed, spacious accommodation, Rockmere Inn is the place for you. Guest note: as is typical with many colonial era homes: stairways can be narrow and steep; floors slope. In particular with the home's unique design traversing a ledge, Rockmere Inn has 6 levels.
As one enters Rockmere Inn from the Mechanic St entrance, the guest is greeted by an entertainer’s dining room with a table that easily accommodates 12. A work space and a comfortable seating area overlook the garden. Hidden behind antique pumpkin pine doors are a coat closet, laundry, and a bar with beverage refrigerator.
Central to the dining room is an original, now decorative, fireplace and the 300-year-old barn door that leads to the gourmet kitchen. The kitchen provides seating for 8 and another gorgeous view of the private patio and garden.
Returning through the dining room, one descends to the massive living room decorated with an international traveler’s flair. The living room, anchored by a gas fireplace, easily accommodates 14 with various conversation spaces sprinkled around the room.
Descend to another level, and one enters the Captain’s Quarter. This guest suite features custom paneling and cabinetry by the renowned custom yacht builder, Bruce Dyson. Visitors feel like they’ve entered the quarters of a luxury yacht, with a center mast and surrounded by hand-crafted mahogany cabinets, wet bar, and private bath. The captain’s quarters can be used as another living space or private sleeping quarters with a separate entrance to Washington St.
Returning to the dining room level, one ascends just 3 steps to the master bedroom level. The large master bedroom is elegantly furnished with a king-sized bed, nestled between 2 bedside tables with lamps, a writing desk, decorative fireplace, seating, TV, walk-in closet, and full bathroom.
From the master bedroom level, ascend another set of stairs to another bedroom suite level. The large bedroom is elegantly furnished with a king-sized bed, nestled between 2 bedside tables with lamps, seating, TV, walk-in closet, and 3/4 bathroom.
Finally, take the last 3 steps up to the crew’s quarters which accommodates 4 guests in 2 daybeds with trundles, 2 seating areas, built in dresser drawers, and walk-in closet. The crew’s quarters share the ¾ bath.

About Marblehead
Founded in 1629, Marblehead was a crucial fishing port during the American Revolution; much of its history can be discovered by navigating through the colorful, narrow streets of Old Town. Like an open-air museum, Marblehead flaunts its history not only in its well-preserved 18th-century houses and architecture, national historic landmarks and local shops are sprinkled throughout the town.
After meandering amongst the quaint Colonial houses, take a tour through Marblehead Neck, which leads to the lighthouse. Marvel at the breathtaking views of Marblehead Harbor, birthplace of the US Navy, & a major sailing capital.
Marblehead’s most popular beach, Devereux, has plenty of picnic tables, playgrounds, and on-site restrooms. Gas House Beach is on Little Harbor. With a rocky shore and small boats anchored in tranquil, shallow water, the scene at Gas House is perfectly New England. Active visitors can enjoy a paddle at King’s Beach with views of Boston.
